Joan Lowden, Musician:
I have been playing music most of my life – I minored in classical voice at California State University Long Beach, studied jazz voice at the Guildhall School of Music in London, and I have been playing upright acoustic bass for over 15 years.

Over the years I have played bass in jazz, bluegrass, blues, Dixieland, Latin and Hawaiian bands.  I played with the Jazz by the Numbers swing band and my Jazz with a Twist trio for many years in Santa Cruz, CA. I now enjoy playing Celtic/stringband music with the MICE (Moose Island Contra Etc) band and jazz with the Basslady and Friends in my new home in Eastport, Maine!
